Snack in a Backpack
This grassroots nonprofit helps close the weekend hunger gap by providing nutritious, child-friendly food to over 400 schoolchildren across Fannin, Gilmer, and Union counties. Operated entirely by volunteers and funded through donations, the organization distributed more than 19,000 food bags last school year alone—ensuring every dollar directly supports local children in need.

Shop With a Cop
Each December, local officers are paired one-on-one with children from families facing hardship to shop for holiday gifts, clothing, and essentials at the Walmart in Blue Ridge. For many, it is their only chance to experience the joy of the season. This program not only brings comfort and excitement to children in need, but also builds trust and connection between law enforcement and the community. Operated by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, 100% of funds raised go directly to the children’s shopping experiences—no overhead, just heart.

Open Arms: Home for Children
Open Arms provides safe, nurturing homes for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment—offering a place to heal, grow, and dream again. With round-the-clock care, educational support, and counseling, children receive the stability they deserve. The organization runs both emergency shelters and long-term homes across North Georgia, serving youth from infancy through young adulthood. For many, Open Arms is not just shelter—it becomes family, and with continued support, it remains a launching point for brighter futures.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity builds and repairs safe, affordable homes for families in need, helping them achieve long-term stability through interest-free mortgages and hands-on partnerships. Funds also support critical home repairs for seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities, disaster recovery efforts, and neighborhood revitalization. With a presence both locally and globally, Habitat ensures every dollar has lasting impact—strengthening communities and opening doors for those who need it most.

Fannin County Family Connection
Fannin County Family Connection (FCFC) is a nonprofit in Blue Ridge, Georgia, supporting families and children through services like a food pantry, early childhood programs, and family support. Working with local agencies and nonprofits, FCFC connects families to resources to help build a stronger, healthier community.

Fannin County Children’s Fund
They are committed to breaking down the barriers that stand in the way of a child’s education and well-being—whether that means providing food, clothing, athletic gear, covering college application fees, funding field trips and yearbooks, or even helping with home repairs. Through compassion, action, and community partnership, they strive to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
